Cool and green,
Silent, thin

The green shapes in the shadows of the buildings
The shadows creeping slowly over the walls
The shadows overtaking the commuters
The shadows of the elevated trains

Dark shadows

Silence

Lines of charcoal,
Dark lines across the pages

The shadows cast by the figures of statues,
Dark shadows, night shades
The shades of things to come
Cast by the shadows of bridges,
The shadows of time pieces,
The shadows of airplanes

Silence

Footsteps
The footsteps of shadows

The shadows of the figures in our dreams,
The dark threads of shadows
Pulled tight
Into darkness

Silence
The long silences
Of long lines of shadows
Across the shapes of things to come

The lengthening shadows
In the silence of the dark temples
In the darkness

The shadows of the gods
